Abbreviated Timeline
------------ Once upon a time, the people of the Vega lived in peace. They were an evolved people who understood well the pulse of the worlds they lived on, and the rhythms of nature. Their inclination was towards understanding and harmony, and their people were scholars, dancers, musicians, and magicians, all focused on understanding the beauty and wonder of life. They believed, for a long time, that nature gave them everything they wanted, and so they desired for nothing more than what nature could provide them. However, despite their deep mystical knowledge and magical prowess, as their technology improved, their society deteriorated. A people who started out as so peaceful eventually succumbed to greed and violence. The seers, great warriors, royalty, and even the Sailor Senshi of Vega warred with each other. Finally, in a great, terrible civil war, the whole race of people disappeared from history, only to be known now by their ruins. That was 4,000 years ago. --- The year is 3699. Humans came to Vega 200 years ago, with the intention of building a center of commerce closer to where other alien civilizations live. To their surprise, they realized that the 10 planets of Vega were previously inhabited, and as they began to terraform the planets, they left the ruins of those people intact for research. The first colonists of Vega worked tirelessly, believing that the work they did would lead to happier lives for their children. Meanwhile, turbulence stirred in humanity's native system, Sol. In the year 3662, the system was ruled by Queen Chandra, the only daughter of Lady Serenity and Helios. She had two daughters herself, the elder Su-en Bendis, who possessed the intelligence and will to rule, and the younger Arienrhod, who possessed the Pink Moon Crystal. Fury occupied Su-en's heart, for even though she felt she was more qualified to rule, she had been passed over as heir because she did not possess a Crystal. So in that year, Su-en murdered her mother Chandra, and framed it on her sister, and had Arienrhod and some of her senshi imprisoned. For a terrifying, brutal year, Su-en ruled Sol, executing those who rebelled against her and disregarding the people. It is because of this year that she earned a somber nickname - Sin. Arienrhod and the senshi loyal to her were able to overthrow Sin, who fled to deep space. Queen Arienrhod set to work repairing Sol, and once enough time had passed to heal, she married and started her own family. The Royal Triplets were born to her in 3682 - Mahina, Ilazki, and Phoebe. Sol looked to the Triplets as a new source of hope and pride, and all seemed well once again. The three daughters of Arienrhod would become the three queens of the next generation of humans - Mahina as the next ruler of Sol, Ilazki as the first queen of Alpha Centari, and Phoebe as first queen of Vega. For the occasion of her ninth birthday, Phoebe was to be introduced to Vega as their new princess. Accompanying her would be the new generation of Vegan senshi, all teenagers native to Vega who bonded with the starseeds of the Vegan planets. These Senshi, along with Phoebe, were trained by the Sol Senshi, and it was believed that they were powerful enough and had deep enough bonds to overcome any possible threat to their princess. Though Sin had been defeated 30 years earlier, her determination to be queen had not been crushed. In the shadows of Vega, she dealt with the Gentry classes, and won their support and favor. On the day of Phoebe's birthday, when she arrived at Arcadia Station, Sin and all of her forces were already there. In a single, overwhelming attack, Sin captured Phoebe and her Senshi, and she took complete control of the central Vegan government. Sin tortured her prisoners, emotionally manipulated them, and wrought unspeakable horrors against them. Perhaps worst of all, Sin took Phoebe, and ripped the Platinum Gnostic Crystal from the princess's very heart - an act that Sin thought rendered her niece dead. During her takeover, Sin did one single thing to ensure that Vega would remain hers - she erected a tachyon web around the entire Vega solar system. No reinforcements from Sol could get to Vega, not even their communications - and nothing at all could escape Vega. The people of Vega literately had nowhere to run, and nobody they could rely on for help now that their Senshi were gone. Yet, two of the Senshi escaped capture - Sailor Icarus and Sailor Odysseus. Through their efforts, the Resistance came to be born from the people who hated Sin and rejected her rule. A month after Phoebe's capture, Icarus and Odysseus, along with loyal Resistance fighters, managed to break into Sin's prison and free their comrades and Princess. Sailors Penthesilea and Ida were killed in the breakout, and Heracles was recaptured, but Atalanta and Orpheus escaped with Phoebe, who was miraculously still alive. Though Sin launched a search for her missing prisoners, they eluded her completely. Intense rioting continued on Vega for five more months, until the introduction of the Iron Angels. The most trusted of Sin's followers, the Iron Angels, each were given a planet to 'guard', and would become the new Sailor Senshi for the people to admire. Along with them, Sin introduced her large army of Coppelia, the cyborg soldiers and police officers of her regime. With no human capable of overwhelming the power of a Coppelia, the last of the major rioting ended in 3692, and the planets submitted to Sin's rule. For eight years, Sin has continued to rule Vega without any major challenge to her authority. The people of Vega fell into deeper and deeper ruin - for everyone but the Gentry classes, quality of life deteriorated. Vital infrastructure, like electricity, schooling, medicine, and even the proper distribution of food would not be guaranteed by the government. Orphans are treated cruelly, sent to work camps until they reach majority (if they survive to majority). Alarmingly, people seem to vanish from hospitals, prisons, and even their homes with no trace - this seems connected to the rise in number of Coppelia over time. Alien people living in Vega face discrimination and hate, adding to their homesickness. The Resistance continued to build up and gain members, and even started to gain some organization. It is unknown if there is a central leader of the Resistance - and if there is, that is deeply hidden information. The Resistance operates out of cells distributed over regions of the planets, each with their own Resistance leader who oversees that region. They face many hardships in their fight, as Sin has spies everywhere, and the punishment for rebelling against her is usually fatally cruel. The current year is 3699. Phoebe, who has grown up under the protection of Sailor Atalanta, has reached the age that she can start to battle as a Senshi herself, Sailor Eurydice. Her resolve to fight awakens the other Senshi warriors from hiding, and draws them towards each other. But just as the Senshi were not enough to stop Sin the first time, they will fail this time if they only work alone. Fortunately for them, other warrior groups are starting to rise up and join the fight - the Asteroid Senshi, the Knights of Elysium, the Ancient Heroes, and the Resistance. All the while, the mysterious fate of the Ancient Vegans looms over these events. Will this Vega, ruled by humans, also end in the total annihilation of the people? And if Vega falls, how far will Sin's destruction spread? |
