    November 19, 2014, 01:00:04 PM
  • Ingrid: Maybe when they were kids XD
    October 19, 2014, 12:15:33 PM
  • Alyss: Phoebe wouldn't want Vaness to feel bad either, though, or dress up as something she really, really would rather not wear. Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty have pretty dresses, so she'd be perfectly happy going as one of them. ^_^ (And the puppy dog eyes may end up on Roi to go as Flynn. XD)
    October 17, 2014, 01:04:57 PM
  • Alyss: She does - complete with a little bottom lip wibble. ^^;
    October 17, 2014, 12:59:37 PM
  • Ingrid: I bet Phoebe has the best puppy eyes
    October 17, 2014, 10:40:58 AM
  • Ingrid: Oh no ;_; Now Vaness feels bad
    October 17, 2014, 10:40:49 AM
  • Alyss: Phoebe would probably go as Rapunzel or Sleeping Beauty since they are both "hidden" princesses like her. (But only because Vaness probably won't go as Elsa to her Anna. XD)
    October 17, 2014, 10:35:10 AM
  • Brenna: Phia will dress as a butterfly, because its the last thing anyone will see coming out of the world's biggest tomboy.
    October 14, 2014, 10:54:38 PM
  • Brenna: Doc Lamya would go as the Ghost of Breakfasts Yet To Come, with a bacon and eggs print shroud.
    October 14, 2014, 10:53:31 PM
  • Ru: That is so awesome.  :D
    October 14, 2014, 06:06:48 PM
  • Pixie: Kivan would go as Liberace XD
    October 14, 2014, 05:50:22 AM
  • Ru: Kit I think might be a total geek and dress up as some historical figure her dad taught her about.  And then be a little confused that no one knows who she is.
    October 13, 2014, 06:52:34 PM
  • Ru: Hmm, I think Seren might go as a zombie, just to confuse the hell out of people.  She'd play it totally straight, and people would STILL find her attractive.
    October 13, 2014, 06:50:57 PM
  • Ingrid: Vaness goes as Flame Princess because of all the Elsa jokes
    October 13, 2014, 01:51:42 PM
  • Pixie: Pwyll would perversely go as his sister XD
    October 13, 2014, 07:05:13 AM
  • Brenna: Autumn Question Times! Cast Masquerade/Trick or Treating! What/Who/When is your character going as?

    October 01, 2014, 01:59:40 PM
  • Ru: HEY so just a little question - for those of you with Lost Kids, do your kids know how to swim?
    September 25, 2014, 06:10:07 PM

Ancient Heroes

Who are the Ancient Heroes?

When Solís humans reached the Vega star, they came across nine planets which looked like they could be terraformed, but were presently barren of life.  To their surprise, while the original colonists were setting up the terraforming process, ruins of ancient cities, fortresses, and temples were found on the planets.  After a bit of a legal tangle over whether or not Vega should continue to be colonized, eventually the decision was made to continue, while carefully leaving the ruins alone and preserving what mummies and relics which could be found.  The language of those people cannot be read, and so they are simply known as the Ancient Vegans, and they are the subject of study for historians all over the system.  While they understand some things about the Ancient Vegan culture and lifestyle, such as their deep connections with nature and magic, they do not understand why the Ancient Vegans all suddenly died out so many millennia ago.

However, unbeknownst to everyone, the spirits of some of the greatest people of that time still persist to this day.  In addition to the Planetary Senshi who lived at the end of the era of Ancient Vegans, there were twelve outstanding people who helped shaped the fate of the solar system.  These people led nations, schools of thought, or crushed opposing armies, and in their time they were known as Heroes. These Heroes were powerful and highly respected figures in society, and stood beside the Planetary Senshi of their time as leaders of the people.  That being said, they were alive on Vega when the civilization suddenly burnt out 4,000 years ago.

The souls of those twelve Heroes have reincarnated in our time, as people who were born and raised in the Vegan system.  They may live mundane lives, perhaps as shopkeepers or soldiers, or they may have already risen to greatness again, as governors or Resistance leaders.  Even if they live humbly, these Heroes are usually thought highly of by others, and possess a magnetism that makes people want to follow them.  Each one of them has come into possession of a unique relic - a magitech item unlike anything ever produced by humans - though the Hero may or may not have figured out how to activate it.  As of the start of the game, Heroes can only remember one fragment of their past lives, and will have to meet each other, encounter the Senshi, and explore the ruins to discover more.

Did the Heroes lead Vega to destruction last time?  Why have they returned in this era of chaos, and how will they shift the tides of war?

What are the known things about the Ancient Vegan civilization so far, for both IC and OOC?

In-game, it is known that the Ancient Vegans had colonies on every habitable moon and planet of Vega, and they had some way of terraforming difficult planets, like Orpheus and Icarus.  As mummies of these people have been found, it is known that the people were nymph-like in appearance (tall, usually slender, generally more fragile than humans, nimble) who probably lived until they were 200 years old on average.  There were other mythical races that lived on the planets, like centaurs and satyrs, but it seems like the nymphs were predominant.  It is also known, from the way that their ruins and resources have been uncovered, that magic was first-nature to these people, and technology second.  This is in contrast to humans, who relied on technology first and then over time embraced more magic.

Out-of-character, there are a few things that are established about these people.  Among themselves, they called themselves the Tupla.  While there were periods of piece, frequently there were disputes and wars between the planets.  Heroes were not a cohesive team back in the day (neither were the planetary Senshi), and there was little consistency between the planets about who should rule.  On some planets, the Senshi may have been rulers and the Heroes supported them, while on other planets the Heroes may have been the rulers, with Senshi as support.  Also, there were ten planets while the Tupla were alive - the planet Mithras was blown up near the end of the era of the Tupla.  As we gain more Ancient Hero characters, the true history of the Tulpa people will be fleshed out.

Does Perseus really have to be a dude?  Does Hellene really have to be the hot chick everyone fights over?

No way!  A lot of the fun is taking the old myths and turning them on their heads.  Perseus can absolutely be a chick, and I know a lot of players here love to imagine Iason as a Pirate Queen.

Like everyone else, Hellene can certainly be a man, or remain a woman.  And Hellene perhaps wasn't being fought over because of her looks, but because she was a genius scientist, or a warrior everyone wanted on their side.  Relationships within the myths can be different too - instead of Achilles and Hektor being at odds, for example, they could easily have been BFFs or lovers.  As long as there are some nods and thematic elements related to the classic hero, you can do whatever you want with your character here.

I see that each Hero has a given Virtue.  Is that like a Senshi's sphere?

Similar!  Like spheres, the Virtue helps define the Hero's character and their history, and gives the player a starting-point and an idea of how their Hero might be extraordinary.  The Hero may not be the perfect example of their given Virtue - for example, Cassandra, with her Foresight, may have not been able to predict and rescue a love one from dying.  But that Virtue still plays a huge part in their development, and she may become better with that trait over time.

But unlike spheres, the Virtue doesn't have to dictate the kind of powers that the Hero has - Adrasteia, with her Virtue of Compassion, might still have a relic that enables her to beat the tar out of other people.

Medea really has to fight with a cup?

Yes.  However, it is a maaaaaaaaagic cup, oooh and aaaah.

Specifically, all of the Hero relics are magitech, so they can exhibit magical and/or technological powers. Medea's cup may not necessarily be great for clubbing people with, but it could help her scry (magic), or maybe it can turn any liquid poured into it into a medicine or poison (magic/tech), or she can make it expand and use it to imprison people (tech).  Each relic has three special abilities to start with, so play with a variety of possibilities.

You can also stretch the definitions of what the objects are - Antigone's Rope can easily be a bullwhip instead, or garrot wire, while Medea's chalice could be anything from a handheld tea cup to the Stanley Cup, so long as it has some kind of concave surface.
